AGL is one of Australia's leading integrated renewable energy companies. It has a diverse power generation portfolio including base, peaking and intermediate generation plants. The portfolio includes traditional thermal generation (gas and coal) as well as renewable sources wind, landfill gas and biogas.
AGL's power generation assets are located within the regions where our retail customers are predominantly located.

AGL's installed renewable energy generation capacity comprises around 27% of our generation portfolio.
The operational characteristics of AGL's hydro assets are valuable during periods of high demand, as full generation output can be achieved very quickly (in as little as two minutes at some stations), thereby rapidly offsetting exposure to the potentially high spot prices that AGL would otherwise face.
The gas-fired generation assets provide an important reinforcement to the hydro assets because they are able to provide sustained operation if availability of water (the fuel source for the hydro assets) becomes constrained.
The fuel diversity benefits provided by AGL's power generation portfolio, which includes renewable and zero greenhouse emission assets, assist in reducing the carbon intensity of the portfolio.
