Trading

Our Energy Trading team trades the largest portfolio of energy assets in Australia. The team trades in the domestic and global commodity and financial markets. Traded commodities include power, coal, weather, environmental, carbon, oil, gas, metals and foreign exchange.

The Physical Markets Trading team manages risk for AGL and the electricity and gas spot markets administered by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO). This includes the dispatch of our renewable assets.

Our Origination team is responsible for contractual agreements. This includes helping us transition our long-term electricity portfolio to renewable generation and flexible capacity, as well as contracting physical gas, pipeline capacity and storage to meet demand in the future.

The Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Operations team builds and operates our virtual power plant. With roles that span engineering, data science, operations and managing our VPP technology platform, the team works to realise value from our VPP assets and share it with our customers.

Analytics

Using data safely, securely and efficiently helps our customers, stakeholders and team members.

Our analytics team works across areas like:

• software development for analytical decision making (primarily using Python and SQL)
• data storage and movement
• visualisation (primarily via Power BI)
• analytics guidance and delivery
• data architecture and patterning.

We’re all about building a first-class experience for our customers, and we need first-class people to help us do it.

Our Customer Experience & Insights team understands what matters to customers. The team combines human-centered design with customer, market and competitor insights, using this knowledge to make sure we meet – or exceed – our customers' expectations.

The Brand team shapes, enhances and protects the AGL brand, creating a consistent experience at all touchpoints.

Our Marketing team leads our advertising media placement and creative campaigns. The team drives customer growth, retention and value optimisation, while promoting our diverse products and services.

The Partnerships and Sponsorships team helps create more value for customers, through partner channels and relationships.

And that’s not all. We also look after activities like:

• content and social media management
• performance, digital and integrated marketing
• MarTech strategy
• customer advocacy
• research and insights.

We help businesses solve energy challenges, whether they’re about cost, sustainability or navigating the path towards decarbonisation.

Join us as we work with customers to create energy solutions, including commercial solar, power development, energy efficiency, and power quality solutions. For example, our team members work on projects like:

• managing the sale and installation of solar panels on the roof of an e-commerce warehouse
• retailing natural gas to a business
• responding to a tender for the delivery of electricity to 150 retail outlets.

We manage relationships and energy contracts for more than 17,000 commercial customers in over 100,000 locations. Our commercial customers range from smaller energy users spending above $25,000 per year, through to large corporate and government customers spending up to $100m per year. Key customers include Visy, Telstra, Yalumba and Bunnings.
