About Pottinger Energy Park
The Pottinger Energy Park project is named after the Pottinger family – one of the first families to install and maintain windmills in the region. This adoption of wind power in the early 1900s helped to develop a thriving local agriculture industry and the Pottinger Energy Park seeks to build on that legacy to create a prosperous future for the region.
The proposed Pottinger Energy Park will include up to 831 megawatts (MW) of wind which is expected to provide electricity to power the equivalent of the annual needs of over 510,000 average NSW households.
This will be supported by a 400 MW / 1,600 MWh grid-scale battery connected to the Project EnergyConnect transmission network.
In April 2025, EnergyCo awarded the proposed Pottinger Energy Park an Access Right in NSW’s South West Renewable Energy Zone (SW REZ).
Community and stakeholder feedback
AGL and Someva are engaging with the local community, Traditional Custodians, State and Federal governments, residents and business owners in the region around the Project.
We are committed to implementing a tailored community co-design process to ensure communities share in and benefit from the Pottinger Energy Park project. This involves listening to and genuinely engaging with the local community to ensure the project delivers tailored economic, social, and environmental benefits.
Planning
The Pottinger Energy Park Environmental Impact Statement is currently on exhibition on the NSW Planning Major Projects portal. Project submissions can be made until 4 July 2024.
