AGL appoints Elisabeth Brinton to run New Energy business
AGL Energy Limited (AGL) today announced the appointment of Elisabeth Brinton in the position of Executive General Manager, New Energy, commencing approximately mid-September 2016.
Managing Director & CEO, Andy Vesey, said he was pleased to be bringing someone with Ms Brinton’s expertise and talent to the company.
“Elisabeth is well regarded in the field and is a strong leader with a proven track record of successful innovation, execution and value creation across multiple industries. Her contribution will add to the depth of talent and skill at the executive level and be an advantage to AGL as both it and the industry undergo transformation,” Mr Vesey said.
Ms Brinton has more than 25 years of experience growing companies and leading innovation across sectors including energy, technology, consumer food products and agriculture. Most recently, she was Corporate Strategy Officer for New York Stock Exchange-listed Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E).
At PG&E she was responsible for establishing the strategic direction for regulated electricity and gas utilities and for leading the holding company’s competitive businesses, strategic investments and mergers and acquisitions. She also led exploration and implementation of new utility business models in California.
Previously, she served as Chief Customer Officer for SMUD, the number-one ranked United States Utility by J.D. Powers, and ran global marketing for web infrastructure company LoudCloud, including during its initial public offering.
AGL’s New Energy business unit was formed in 2014 to embrace the major changes transforming the energy industry and to create new business models to meet customers’ needs. It currently comprises rooftop solar, commercial energy services, energy storage, electric vehicle services and the digital metering business, ActiveStream.
Alistair Preston will continue to act in the position until Ms Brinton’s commencement, after which he will continue in the Executive General Manager Organisational Transformation role.
