Recall of promotional wireless phone chargers
AGL has initiated a voluntary recall of AGL-branded promotional wireless mobile phone chargers after receiving a report that one of them overheated, causing scorch marks to a table.
AGL interim Chief Customer Officer Mark Enzinger said that AGL provided about 3,000 chargers free of charge to guests at ‘Melbourne Victory in Business’ events in October 2018 and May 2019 and at a Chairman’s Lunch event in Melbourne in December 2018.
AGL is the official energy partner of the Melbourne Victory.
“AGL supplied them to guests as promotional gifts,” he said.
“No injuries have been reported to AGL.
“We have notified the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) of the voluntary recall and the process we plan to follow.
“We plan to complete the recall as quickly as practicable”.
Mr Enzinger said anyone with the chargers, which carry the AGL name and logo and were supplied with a detachable USB cable, should:
- unplug them immediately and discontinue use
- provide their contact details via a dedicated public AGL website page at agl.com.au/PhoneChargerRecall2019 to receive a reply-paid return satchel, and
- return the charger and USB cable to AGL for safe disposal via the satchel.
