As announced on 12 August 2021, the Board of AGL Energy Limited (AGL Energy) is currently undertaking a process to consider additional appointments to the Board of AGL Energy during FY22.

AGL Energy today announced the appointment of Graham Cockroft as a Non-Executive Director, effective 1 January 2022. Mr Cockroft will stand for election at the 2022 Annual General Meeting.

Mr Cockroft comes to the AGL Energy Board with a strong financial background and extensive experience, gained over 30 years, working in the energy sector. Mr Cockroft was appointed Group CFO in 2018 at Singapore based and listed integrated energy player, Sembcorp Industries. During his tenure Mr Cockroft contributed to Sembcorp's strategic development, which included the demerger of its marine business.

Mr Cockroft was previously CFO of Contact Energy, a large listed integrated energy company in New Zealand with businesses in hydro, geothermal and gas-fired power generation, wholesale and retail electricity, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas.

Prior to 2009 Mr Cockroft spent close to two decades at BG Group in various senior strategy, business development and operational roles, primarily in the UK and South America.

AGL Energy Chairman, Peter Botten, said: “Graham Cockroft brings with him a set of skills that will not only benefit the AGL Energy Board but if the proposed demerger proceeds will benefit Accel Energy’s Board where his extensive financial and energy markets experience will help guide Accel Energy through opportunities presented by the energy transition. My fellow Directors and I are delighted to welcome Graham to the AGL Energy Board, and we are looking forward to working with him”.

AGL Energy also confirms that it is well progressed in the process to appoint a further Director to the Board of AGL Energy with experience in climate change risk and ESG.
