AGL Energy Limited (AGL) has today announced that Christine Corbett has decided to depart AGL to pursue the next stage of her career following the company’s decision to withdraw the Demerger Proposal¹ last week.

Ms Corbett joined AGL Energy in September 2019 as Chief Customer Officer and was appointed Managing Director and CEO-elect of AGL Australia in June 2021, a role that Ms Corbett was due to move into as part of the proposed Demerger.

Ms Corbett will step down from her role on 24 June 2022 and continue to support the business, including contributing to the review of its strategic direction, until 25 September 2022.

AGL Managing Director and CEO Graeme Hunt said:

“Christine has made a significant contribution to AGL. Her drive, energy and focus has been transformative for the business and our customers.

“Over the past three years, Christine has overseen growth in customer services, AGL’s expansion into mobile and internet services, record high Net Promoter Scores and the successful acquisition and integration of six businesses.

“I’d like to thank Christine for her hard work and dedication and wish her the very best for the next stage of her career.”

Ms Corbett said:

“I am very proud of the work my team and I have done over the past 12 months on the AGL Australia strategy which will be an important input into AGL’s review of its strategic direction.”

AGL has appointed Jo Egan, the current General Manager, Product and Portfolio, as its new Chief Customer Officer, effective 25 June 2022.

Ms Egan has more than two decades of relevant experience and specialises in transforming the customer experience and managing change in complex environments.

Ms Egan led the delivery of AGL's multi-product retail strategy, growing the business through acquisitions including Click Energy, On the Move and Southern Phone Company. She has held retail leadership roles at TRUenergy and PCI and is the Chair of Ovo Energy Australia, a joint venture between OVO and AGL.
