AGL and NBN Co sign six-year renewable energy PPA
AGL and nbn have signed a six-year power purchase agreement. Under the agreement nbn is purchasing the equivalent of around 90 GWh per year of renewable energy to be supplied to the grid and the associated renewable energy certificates generated by Macarthur Wind Farm.
AGL Chief Operating Officer, Markus Brokhof, said this is another example of how AGL can help Australian businesses in their transition journey.
“We continue to work with our customers and partners to support them as they transition their businesses. This contract also supports the ongoing operation of the Macarthur Wind Farm.”
Macarthur wind farm is located 16 km east of Macarthur, between Hamilton and Warrnambool in south western Victoria. It consists of 140 wind turbines with a capacity of 420 MW. On average over the last 10 years the wind farm generated over 910,000 MWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power approximately 171,000 average Australian households each year.
Macarthur Wind Farm is operated and maintained by AGL and AGL retains the rights to all renewable energy certificates and electricity output from the wind farm until 2038.
