Camden residents can learn about energy efficiency through a unique, fun and free event, thanks to the AGL 175th Anniversary Regional Roadshow, which arrives in Camden on Saturday 6 October for four days of community and local primary school activities. To mark its anniversary, AGL is inviting residents to visit the AGL Energy Cube, a custom built inflatable marquee on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th October. Visitors can learn about energy efficiency, AGL’s history and renewable initiatives. The AGL mascots, Timmy and Tina Turbine will also be on hand to show children how to become energy savers through a fun, interactive performance. Jenny O'Brien, Community Relations Manager for the area, said initiatives like the AGL Energy Cube assist in reinforcing the importance of energy saving in the local community.

“We invite Camden residents to visit the AGL Energy Cube and discover how AGL has shaped Australia’s energy landscape over the past 175 years. Locals can see how much energy their legs can generate by powering the pedal bikes and find out how to make their home more energy efficient in the Smarter Living Centre,” said Ms O’Brien. In the region AGL has operated the Camden Gas Project, which produces around five percent of the State’s gas needs, for the last 10 years. It consists of 86 producing coal seam gas wells and associated infrastructure. AGL employs approximately 70 full time employees and contractors in the area and about half of the project’s suppliers are locally-based businesses.

AGL is Australia’s second oldest publicly listed company and has been supporting Australian communities for 175 years. The 175th Anniversary Regional Roadshow began in New South Wales, and is progressively travelling through Queensland, Victoria and South Australia between July and October 2012. The AGL Energy Cube will be open free to local residents on 6 & 7 October from 9am – 4pm and will be located at Camden Showgrounds, Argyle Street.
