The Willatook and District Country Fire Association has used a $20,000 donation from AGL Energy Limited (AGL) to purchase a new four wheel drive (4WD) ute.

Willatook and District Country Fire Association captain, Allan Vaughan, said the 4WD ute was an important addition to the brigade’s fleet.

“It’s light weight and fantastic for accessing tricky areas which are too difficult for the typical long trucks or tankers, and we’ll be able to get under trees or go over rocky areas. Also, a ute doesn’t require a heavy vehicle license, so all of us will be able to drive it.

“There are a total of eight brigades within the Hawkesdale Group, and the ute will be used to support a wide area; it could even be used in Melbourne if needed,” Mr Vaughan said.

The $20,000 donation is in addition to the $53,264 annual AGL Macarthur Wind Farm Community Fund Program, which is distributed annually amongst other community groups in the Hawkesdale and Macarthur areas.

AGL Asset Manager Wind and Solar, Iain Pople, said making a positive contribution in the local communities in which it operates is a priority for AGL.

Since AGL launched the fund in 2013 it has provided more than $150,000 to community groups within the local area.
