AGL sponsors Burrandowan Picnic Races
Race organisers have praised AGL Energy Limited’s (AGL) sponsorship of the historic Burrandowan Picnic Races held on Saturday, 14 May 2016, saying it helped to make the event a huge success.
This is the first time AGL has sponsored the charity race meet, which has been running since 1922.
Burrandowan Picnic Race Club secretary, Carolyn Stone, said she was thrilled with the AGL’s donation of $2,000.
“We’re really appreciative of the sponsorship which went towards running the race day. The funds we raised will be donated to RACQ CareFlight, two local schools, the Taabinga Rotary Club and the Kingaroy Lions Club.
“It’s been great working with AGL this year and I look forward to working closely together next year,” Mrs Stone said.
AGL Coopers Gap Wind Farm project manager, Neil Cooke, said supporting the work of local organisations within the communities AGL operates is a priority.
“I was excited to attend the races, meet with more of our community members face to face and start what I hope will be a long and fruitful relationship.
“We hope the sponsorship helps to deliver community-wide benefits and enables us to strengthen AGL’s existing links with the local community,” Mr Cooke said.
