AGL continues support for Alpine communities
AGL continues its support for the Victorian Alpine Region when the international ski marathon, the Kangaroo Hoppet, is held at Falls Creek on Saturday.
AGL is a major sponsor of the event through the AGL Energy Scholarships.
The Kangaroo Hoppet is the largest international snow sports event in the southern hemisphere, attracting more than 1,000 skiers, including a number of Olympians and Paralympians, from 22 nations last year.
“We are proud to sponsor the Kangaroo Hoppet through the AGL Energy Scholarships program which provides financial assistance to the development of the next generation of Australian cross-country skiers,” AGL Community Relations Manager, Hannah Coffey, said.
AGL under its Hydro Community Fund Program recently announced more than $26,000 of initiatives that support the communities around its hydro electric assets in Victoria.
Ms Coffey said nine organisations had benefited this year from the AGL Hydro Community Fund Program (see table below for more details).
“Sponsorships and community funding are tangible demonstrations of our commitment to supporting the communities in which we operate, live and work across Australia,” Ms Coffey said.
The Program is open to community groups in the Falls Creek, Bogong Village, Mount Beauty, Tawonga South, Tawonga and Dederang communities.
It also helps to promote local awareness of AGL Hydro and the benefits of sustainable renewable energy while building on its strong relationships with the local and wider community.
Also in 2018, AGL supported the opening of the Dartmouth Regulating Pond for recreational fishing and formalised the long-term arrangements for Team Mount Beauty’s mountain bike course..
