How to lodge an insurance claim for your AGL subscription electric vehicle.

Lodging a claim

All EV subscriptions come with comprehensive insurance. Here’s how to lodge a claim if your car has been involved in an accident, damaged, or stolen.*

  1. Ensure safety
    First make sure everyone is safe. If anyone is injured or there is any danger, call 000.  

  2. Gather evidence
    Make sure you have the information you need for lodging a claim. The more evidence you provide, the stronger your case will be, which will make the process easier. 

    • If other people are involved, get their license number, vehicle registration and contact details.

    • Take photos of damage to any vehicles, and the location of the accident.

    • Make a note of any information about the surrounding area that you think is relevant to the accident.

  3. Lodge your claim
    Call the 24/7 number 1800 817 683
    You’ll need your registration number handy, and you’ll need to confirm that you're an AGL customer. 

  4. Arrange a repair
    The insurance company might book your vehicle in to be repaired for you, or they might give you a list of approved repairers to contact.

After you lodge a claim

  1. The insurance company assesses your claim
    The insurance company will use your evidence and other relevant information to determine who was at fault for the accident. This may take some time.

  2. AGL sends you an invoice for the excess
    The insurance excess is $2,000 per claim (unless your Subscription Details specify a different amount), and will be billed to you by AGL. If the insurance company determines that you're not at fault for the accident, and the at-fault party’s details have been provided, the excess will be billed to the at-fault party instead.

  3. You may be given a temporary replacement vehicle (if needed)
    Once the excess is paid, the insurance company may be able to arrange a temporary replacement vehicle if you need one.
