Ways to manage your power payments more easily

You may have experienced the shock of an unexpectedly high bill. We've introduced several payment options to put energy bill management back in your hands.

Life’s busy and finding ways to manage your energy bills can add pressure to an already stressful, never-ending list of things to pay. We want to make it easier so we’ve designed a few things that can help.

Make them more frequent

Energy bills often default to quarterly, but this isn’t the best option for everyone. Switching to monthly billing can help you avoid larger lump sum payments.

Log into My Account and select the time of the month you’d like to receive your bill to make budgeting a breeze.

Spread the cost

We all know cranking the heating in winter and the air con in summer tends to result in much higher bills, but bill smoothing can help you avoid these seasonal spikes.

The way it works is simple. We make an annual estimate based on seasonal factors and your previous usage habits. If you’re a new customer, we base it on similar households in your area and split the cost into more regular payments over the year.

For example, if your bills totaled $1200 last year, then your bill smoothing payment would be $100 per month.

You can choose the payment rhythm to suit your budget and lifestyle – weekly, fortnightly or even monthly.

Track via the app

If you have a digital electricity meter, you can get a bill projection by checking the AGL app. Our app can tap into your meter and give you daily updates on how much electricity you’ve used. You can also set up alerts when your usage starts to spike, so you can make an effort to rein things in before your bill arrives.

Customer viewing usage on the AGL app

If you don’t have a smart meter, you can still view your historical usage in the app, as well as update your details, move your energy to a new home and add other services like internet or mobile.

Make the most of My Account

Not keen on downloading our app but would like all the same access and insights? You can do everything you need via our website portal, My Account. Just log in to get started.

Set and forget

Setting up a direct debit takes the hassle out of remembering to pay your bill. You’ll still be sent a bill so you’ll know what’s due and when, and then the amount will be automatically deducted from your account on the due date. Set it up via our app or My Account.

Pay online

Another flexible option for paying your bills and managing your money is the ability to make an immediate payment online using your credit card or via your PayPal account.

Alternatively, you can also pay your bills using BPAY through your financial institution to pay your bill with a credit card or bank account.
