At the request of the COAG Energy Council, the Energy Security Board (ESB) has developed alternate policy options for activating the reliability obligation that was proposed under the draft design of the National Energy Guarantee (NEG).

These options were developed in response to concerns raised by Ministers at the Energy Council meeting held in August 2018 that a reliability gap could emerge at any time across a forecast period.
