AGL would like to advise that it has not performed continuous monitoring of air emissions at the Camden Gas Project as required by the conditions of the Environment Protection Licence (EPL) issued by the EPA, and the Camden Project planning consent. This was identified by senior management following an internal review of operational procedures and upon discovery, AGL immediately notified the EPA.

Continuous air monitoring is used to ensure the exhaust gases of natural gas compressors meet the allowable annual EPL emission load limits and do not exceed the EPL emission limit at any point in time.

While independent quarterly air emissions monitoring, which has always been performed at the Camden Gas Project, confirms AGL is well below its emission limits, AGL acknowledges that monitoring should have been performed on a continuous basis. AGL's technical expert has confirmed that there is no evidence of harm to the environment or human health arising from the lack of continuous monitoring data.

We are taking immediate steps to address the issue including the appointment of technical experts PAEHolmes to review the emission monitoring program, conducting monthly independent emission monitoring and replacing the continuous monitoring equipment at Camden.

AGL takes safety and environmental issues very seriously and recognises that some people may be concerned about the issue of continuous emissions monitoring. AGL is working with the community and other stakeholders to keep them informed of air monitoring results, including the commitment to provide detailed information on the Camden Gas Project website as it becomes available.

AGL is committed to the safe and sustainable development of natural gas supply for New South Wales customers.
