Re: Request for trading halt

Persuant to Listings Rule 17.1, AGL Energy Limited requests a trading halt in its securities, being ordinary shares (ASX Code: AGK) and subordinated notes (ASX code: AGKHA), from the commencement of trading day 24 May, 2012.

In accordance with Listings Rule 17.1, we advise,

  1. The trading halt is requested pending an announcement by AGL in relation to the outcome of proposed capital raising.
  2. AGL wishes the trading halt to remain in place untill the earlier of such time as it makes an announcement to the market in relation to the capital raising and the commencement of trading on Tuesday 29 May, 2012 and
  3. AGL is not aware of any reason why the trading halt should not be granted or of any other information necessary to inform the market or ASX about the trading halt.
