AGL supports Glenthompson community with new fire truck
AGL Energy Limited (AGL) today announced its support of the Glenthompson Rural Fire Brigade, with a donation of $14,000 towards the purchase of a new Light Fire Tanker.
The Glenthompson Rural Fire Brigade, who form part of the Country Fire Authority (CFA), recently took ownership of the Light Fire Tanker which will serve the local Glenthompson and surrounding communities.
The Light Fire Tanker will enable a quicker response to fires and serve as an important back up to the primary tanker truck for any emergencies that arise closer to Glenthompson.
The funding was made possible through AGL’s Oaklands Hill Wind Farm Community Fund which provides financial support for a range of community initiatives, projects and events that benefit local communities.
AGL's Wind Energy Operations Manager Victoria, Brendan Ryan, said that AGL is proud to provide support to the local community.
“The new fire truck will help provide the local community with additional resources when responding to emergency situations.
“As a long term operator of wind farms in the Glenthompson area, we will continue to make an ongoing contribution to the local and wider communities,” Mr Ryan said.
In addition to the funding provided to the CFA, the Oaklands Hill Wind Farm Community Fund has also provided funding to the Glenthompson Dunkeld Rams.
AGL’s support extends to the neighbouring Macarthur Wind Farm, which recently commenced its first round of community funding. Both community funds will support the local community for the wind farms’ anticipated 25-year life cycles.
The AGL Oaklands Hill Wind Farm comprises 32 wind turbines located on 2,323 hectares of freehold agricultural land three kilometres south of Glenthompson in Western Victoria.
