AGL to power the ‘Tahs
AGL Energy Limited (AGL) today announced it will enter into a two year partnership with the NSW Waratahs and the New South Wales Rugby Union, and launch a program to support grassroots rugby and local clubs.
Executive General Manager Stephen Mikkelsen said AGL had considered a number of partnership opportunities in NSW, but had identified the NSW Waratahs as a unique way to connect with NSW customers.
“Partnering with the Waratahs lets us get behind a team the whole state supports. We are passionate about rugby and helping the Waratahs to achieve their best. We also recognise the importance of grassroots rugby to the continued success of the game, which is why our program will also support local clubs.”
AGL will offer rugby fans the ability to earn up to $150 annually for their local club while they are on the AGL Waratahs energy plans. Rugby fans can also receive savings on their electricity and gas bills by signing on to this plan.
“Supporting clubs is also a great way to support communities, which is important to AGL,” said Mr Mikkelsen.
NSW Waratahs CEO Greg Harris said that this is a terrific initiative by AGL to support rugby at all levels in NSW.
“Electricity and gas consumers who sign on to these plans can save on their bills, and in addition, AGL will donate money on their behalf to a club of their choice,” Mr Harris said.
“Our grass roots rugby communities will appreciate this opportunity from AGL, and will no doubt support this meaningful fund raising program which will benefit players of all ages and skill levels.”
