The Gloucester Independent Community Legacy Fund, established by AGL Energy Limited (AGL), today announced the membership of the Fund’s community panel.

The Fund’s Independent Chair, Mrs Tanya Cameron, said the panel members will assess and allocate funding towards initiatives that bring sustainable economic benefit or education and employment pathways to the greater Gloucester region.

“After reviewing all applications for membership of the panel, in conjunction with a NSW Government and AGL representative, we also have recommended an additional community representative be added to the Panel that would enhance local representation,” Mrs Cameron said.

The successful applicants who will participate on the Fund’s Panel are:

  • Business: Stuart Redman of the Gloucester Business Chamber
  • Community: Jerry Germon, treasurer of Advance Gloucester and former Gloucester Shire councillor James Hooke
  • Education & Welfare: John Walton OAM, life member of Gloucester Primary and High School P&Cs.
  • Local Government: Glenn Handford, Interim General Manager, MidCoast Council

The NSW Government is represented by Michael Johnsen MP, the member for Upper Hunter and Tony Sansom OAM, Regional Director of the NSW Department of Industry and AGL Energy is represented by Tony Chappel, Head of Government and Community Relations.

“The position of indigenous representative on the panel will remain open as the Fund did not receive any nominations during the application period.

The Fund and AGL will continue to engage with indigenous groups to identify a suitable candidate”, Mrs Cameron said.

The Fund will hold its inaugural meeting on 15 June 2016 in Gloucester.

Following the inaugural meeting, Mrs Cameron will hold a series of information sessions for community and business groups in Gloucester and Stroud.
