AGL Loy Yang advises the community that fuel reduction burning has commenced along Bartons Lane, Traralgon South and smoke may be visible near the power station.

AGL Loy Yang General Manager, Steve Rieniets, said the activity is part of annual fire preparedness works conducted on site.

“We do this type of fuel reduction burning every year at various locations around the Loy Yang site as part of our extensive fire mitigation and prevention plans,” Mr Rieniets said.

“The burning activity along Bartons Lane will be no larger than a medium sized bonfire and will be manned by AGL personnel.

“The activity is registered with the Country Fire Authority (CFA) and Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources.”

Weather permitting, the periodic burning will continue over the winter months.
