AGL Energy Limited (AGL) today launched its market-leading energy plan which gives customers unlimited charging for their electric cars for $1 a day.

Executive General Manager Energy Markets, Stephen Mikkelsen, said customers choosing the AGL Electric Car Plan will be able to charge their electric vehicles for just $1 a day, anytime of the day, any day of the week, on a 12-month plan.

"If you have an electric car and a digital meter, AGL will provide a standard installation of a digital sub-meter for free which means you can get energy for that car for $1 a day - as much as you like,” Mr Mikkelsen said.

“If a customer has a basic meter and needs a digital meter installed at their home, AGL will also provide a standard installation of this meter for free.”

As part of the innovative energy plan, AGL will connect either to an existing electric car charging station or customers can elect to have an AGL charging station for $799, plus installation costs.

“While this plan won’t suit everyone, we encourage people to call and discuss how this plan could offer cost savings and charging convenience,” added Mr Mikkelsen.

Another bonus is that the electricity supplied under the AGL Electric Car Plan comes with a complimentary carbon offset. Customers on this plan will automatically participate in AGL’s Future Forests program under which AGL will plant trees or invest in other carbon offsets in Australia to match the carbon emissions associated with their electric car charging.
