Peter Botten to join AGL Board
AGL Energy Limited (AGL) today announced the appointment of Peter Botten as a Non-Executive Director effective 21 October 2016. Mr Botten has been appointed by the Board as an additional director and will stand for election at the 2017 Annual General Meeting.
Since 1994, Mr Botten has been Chief Executive Officer of Oil Search Limited, overseeing its development into a major Australian Securities Exchange-listed company. Today, Oil Search is an equity partner with Exxon Mobil in the PNG LNG (liquefied natural gas) project and the operator of all producing oil and gas fields in Papua New Guinea.
Mr Botten has extensive worldwide experience in the oil and gas industry, holding various senior technical, managerial and board positions in a number of listed and government-owned organisations before joining Oil Search. He is currently a Council Member of the Australia PNG Business Council, Director of the Oil Search Foundation and Chairman of Business for Development Australia. He has a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the Royal School of Mines at London’s Imperial College.
AGL Chairman, Jerry Maycock, said: "We are delighted to announce that a leader of Peter’s calibre and experience will be joining the AGL Board. Although AGL is committed to exiting its own operations in the upstream gas sector, the oil and gas supply chain remains integral to our business. As such, Peter’s deep expertise in global energy markets, coupled with his broader corporate experience, will be extremely valuable. On behalf of my fellow Directors and of AGL as a whole, I would like to welcome Peter to the Board.”
