AGL Loy Yang today became the first power generator to sign an agreement with the Victorian State Government and unions to allow retrenched Hazelwood workers to transfer to AGL’s Latrobe Valley-based power station and mine.

AGL Executive General Manager Group Operations, Doug Jackson and AGL Loy Yang General Manager Steve Rieniets joined the Premier Daniel Andrews, Minister for Industry and Employment Wade Noonan, Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing and union representatives in Morwell today to sign the landmark scheme.

“We are proud to play a part in this scheme. We will now be working through the details of the package before seeking expressions of interest for early retirement packages from Loy Yang employees. 

“Once complete, we will be very pleased to continue the process and be able to welcome Hazelwood workers to our site.

“Supporting the communities we operate in is important to AGL and this is one way we are able to assist,” Mr Jackson said.
