Helping Heritage Fine Chocolates go solar

A chocolatier on the hunt for solar energy.

Heritage Fine Chocolates were hunting for a sustainable way to reduce energy costs. Here’s how they kept their chocolates at the perfect eating temperature.

Hunting for an energy efficient solution
Heritage Fine Chocolates (acquired by Darrell Lea Chocolates) were looking for an energy efficient solution. Energy bills accounted for approximately 10% of overheads at their Melbourne factory. Their goal was to reduce the cost of energy bills and lower reliance on grid energy.

“We were inspired by the ability to give something back to the environment and actually reduce our impact on the environment."

– Michael Simons, Managing Director

Choosing solar power

We installed a 99.7 kW solar power system equipped with 350 solar panels. This generates approximately 123 megawatt hours of electricity per year – enough to power about 26 Victorian households with an average usage of 4.6 MWh/pa.

142 tonnes of CO₂e per year

Environmental impact¹

11% per year

Rerduced consumption²

Heritage Fine Chocolates choose AGL’s Solar Smart Plan. This is a Power Purchase Agreement with zero upfront costs and low solar energy rates. They simply pay for the energy produced by the system. The business had the flexibility to start saving money and work in a more sustainable way.

The benefits of going solar for business

We cover a range of commercial solar solutions to suit your energy needs. By partnering with our solar experts, we help to:

  • save on electricity bills by getting low solar energy rates
  • lower a business’ overall carbon footprint by offsetting carbon emissions
  • add solar to your electricity supply.

An AGL solar system means end-to-end support from designing and constructing a system, to grid connection, approvals, application for available incentives and even monitoring and maintenance.

Energy efficient solutions

Whatever your energy goals, we'll help find the right solution for your business.
