AGL supports the new Non-Market Ancillary Service framework with Type 1 (up to 3 years) and Type 2 (up to 10 years) contracts for system security and emerging technologies. Starting Type 1 contracts by Q1 2025 is urged to reduce reliance on current NEM directions. AGL calls for transparent ancillary service communication in contracts to aid new entrants and fair compensation to encourage investment. The biennial transition plan for system security is supported to improve transparency on long-term needs and AEMO's plans. AGL looks forward to the AEMC's Inertia draft determination on 29 February, aligning with the National Electricity Objective (NEO).
