Now that you can get Netflix included with your AGL Netflix electricity plan, it’s time to make sure you know how to get the most out of your next streaming session.
Whether you like to go one episode at a time or prefer to dive in and get lost in your next on-screen obsession, here are a few things to guide you on your journey.
With streaming, it’s not just that you can watch what you want.
It’s that you also have greater freedom to watch how you want.
You can stream on your compatible smartphone, tablet, computer or TV, which means you have the flexibility to comfortably enjoy shows just about anywhere. Watch on the train or bus, curl up in bed, or even sit on the back deck.
Add the Netflix app to your smart TV, or stream onto your TV from your device using a media player such as Google Chromecast or Apple TV, for a bigger-screen experience.
Going on a long plane ride or don’t want to use your data to stream shows on the move? Netflix lets you download episodes and movies so you can take them with you and watch them without an internet connection. Just tap on a show or movie on your device and look for the download logo (an arrow pointing down with a line under it). It’s located to the right of episodes and in a grey bar for movies.
This will download your pick to your device so you can watch it offline. Just remember the download will expire – though you can just grab it again as you need.
With the AGL Netflix Plan, you get Netflix Standard with Ads included with your electricity plan. It’s easy to upgrade your Netflix tier with AGL at any time, and even if you upgrade to the Standard or Premium tier, you’ll still enjoy approximately $84 RRP of Netflix value each year.
The Standard tier doesn’t have ads and allows you to download on two devices. The Premium tier lets you enjoy Netflix on up to 6 devices and in Ultra HD (4K) and high dynamic range (HDR) for the ultimate viewing experience (subject to your internet service and device capabilities).
So, which one is right for you? That depends on a few factors, including how many people in your home might use Netflix at the same time, if you want to avoid ads and if you have a TV or device that supports 4K and HDR viewing.
Everybody’s streaming style is different. But figuring out the bits and pieces that help you enjoy your shows and movies to the fullest can really take your viewing to the next level.
If you’re into excitement and adventure, a soundbar can really put you in the centre of the action. And if you think you’ll be doing a lot of viewing on the go or in other noisy areas, some noise-cancelling headphones or earbuds could be a sound investment.
There are several features you can flip on or adjust to customise your Netflix experience. By creating different profiles, you can decide which of these features apply for which viewers.
If you want to make sure the kids or grandchildren can’t access the steamy stuff, make sure to explore the parental control options.
To help Netflix suggest more relevant shows and movies for you to check out, you can rate things you watch. This can help you discover new shows and movies you might otherwise not have heard of.
There are also ample subtitle and audio description settings you can turn on for a better viewing experience for those with impaired hearing.
