A one-time code is a secure, temporary code sent to an email address or mobile number. It's a way of checking that the person trying to log in to My Account also has access to the linked email account or mobile number.
A one-time code can also be used as a second authentication factor if you have set up two-factor authentication for login.
Never share your one-time code with anyone else. This includes anyone who calls, texts or emails you asking for the code.
If you’ve set up 2FA on your AGL energy account, you’ll need to use it when you log in. But to keep your account secure, we may ask you to use 2FA even if you haven’t set it up. For example, if you try to access your account on a new device, we’ll send you an SMS or email with a unique one-time code for verification.
2FA is enabled automatically on your AGL mobile or nbn® account, and you can’t modify your 2FA settings. If you’re logging in for the first time and don't have a password set up, we’ll ask you to create one.
Log in with your email or mobile and password.
We’ll send a one-time code to your email or mobile.
Enter this code in the Enter Code field and select Next to finalise login.
The one-time code is only valid for five minutes after it is sent. If it expires, you'll need to request another one.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security and helps keep your AGL account safe. 2FA is optional for most customers, but we may ask you to activate it if you ask for extra security or if we notice something unusual.
In the AGL app Account tab, tap Settings.
Tap Login Details.
Tap Set Up Two-Factor Authentication to activate or deactivate 2FA.
