Read your own meter

If you live in a multi-dwelling building, your meters will probably be together in one place.

This could either be in the:

• basement
• carpark, or
• in a cabinet on your floor.

If you live in NSW, your meter could also be under your kitchen sink.

Your meter should be labelled with your unit number, so make sure you’re reading the right meter. The meter number is usually on the front of the meter.

Type 1

The reading for this meter is: 80842

• Press the ‘Display’ button to show the reading options on the screen. You might need to press it more than once to cycle to the correct screen.
• If available, check the configuration reference guide on the meter to find out which screen you’ll need to read.
• If you’re sending us a read, record your usage for peak, off-peak (if applicable) and solar (if applicable), including all the zeros before the numbers.

Note: The screen in the image shows ‘03’ in small numbers. This means it’s on screen number 3, which shows the total KWh used. Don't include these numbers in your read. Take care not to press the ‘Boost’ button if there is one on your meter.

Type 2

The reading for this meter is: 00188

• Press the ‘Display’ button to show the reading options on the screen.
• If you’re sending us a read, record your usage for peak, off-peak (if applicable) and solar (if applicable), including all the zeros before the numbers.

Note: If you have more than one register, keep pressing ‘Display’ to show the other registers. You can check your last bill, invoice, My Account or the AGL app to confirm how many registers you have. Take care not to press the ‘Boost’ button if there is one on your meter.

Type 3

The reading for this meter is: 0010791

• Record your usage for peak, off-peak (if applicable) and solar (if applicable), including all the zeros before the numbers.

Type 4

The reading for this meter is: 000196

Type 5

The reading for this digital electricity meter is: 035009

Active Stream (PlusES) digital meters

Model Mk10D – Three phase, one element

• Register F03D: LCD 01 – Standard current date and time
• Register 1E00: LCD 03 – Energy you’ve used
• Register 1E10: LCD 13 – Energy you’ve sent to the grid

Model Mk7C – One phase, one element

• LCD 01 – Standard current date and time
• LCD03 – Energy you’ve used
• LCD 13 – Energy you’ve sent to the grid

Model Mk7A2 – One phase, two element

• LCD 01* – Standard current date and time
• LCD03* – Energy you’ve used
• LCD07* – Energy used by hot water
• LCD 13* – Energy you’ve sent to the grid
• LCD 43 – This register should record zero (Not applicable in South Australia)
• LCD 53 – Total energy you’ve used (not applicable in South Australia)
• LCD 63 – Total energy you’ve sent to the grid (not applicable in South Australia)

*Note: Some of the older meters will only have 4 LCD displays (01, 03, 07 and 13)

PFIT Solar Configuration

• LCD 01 - Standard current date and time
• LCD 03 - Excess energy consumed by customer's load
• LCD 07 - Total energy consumed by solar system
• LCD 13 - This register should record zero for PFIT meters
• LCD 43 - Total energy produced by customer solar system
• LCD 53 - Total excess energy consumed by customer
• LCD 63 - Total excess energy exported by solar system
