AGL Energy Limited (AGL) last week reinforced its entrance to the Western Australian market by announcing a partnership agreement with the West Coast Eagles.
The two-year Premier Partnership includes sponsorship of the players’ shorts, which will carry the AGL logo, digital signage at Domain Stadium during West Coast home games, along with other marketing, promotional and networking opportunities.
AGL General Manager Sales & Marketing Sandra de Castro said the partnership with West Coast signalled AGL’s commitment to becoming a part of both the Western Australian and the West Coast Eagles communities.
“As a proud Australian company we have a 180 year track record of supporting the communities in which we operate and are excited to be able to now do so in Western Australia with this sponsorship,” she said.
“Just as Western Australians are passionate about their football and their state, we are passionate about bringing them greater choice of gas retailers as we enter the market this year.
“Competition is not only good for AFL fans but also for gas customers as we will offer competitive pricing, along with online account management, flexible billing options, fixed or variable rates and other rewards.
“An important element of the partnership which we are very excited about is our sponsorship of the West Coast Eagles Aboriginal Leadership Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from years eight to 10.
”The values-based program focuses on developing leadership through the topics of cultural identity, goal setting, teamwork, diabetes and responsible drinking.”
West Coast Eagles Chief Executive Trevor Nisbett said the club was thrilled to begin a relationship with AGL.
“We are delighted that AGL has agreed to a partnership with the club,” he said.
“As AGL is poised to enter the West Australian gas market for the first time we believe the relationship will be beneficial for both parties.
“While AGL will be a new identity in Western Australia the company itself is 180 years old which says so much about them. They will support some specific community programs the club is running and we look forward to building the partnership from the ground up.”
The partnership agreement with West Coast, which has an option for an additional year, extends AGL’s corporate sponsorships which include the NSW Waratahs, Melbourne Victory, Zoos Victoria and Zoos SA.
