The Australian Energy Market Commission (Commission) published a draft determination on a rule change request from Western Power relating to alternatives to grid-supplied network services.
The rule change request sought to remove what Western Power considered to be a regulatory barrier to distributors providing off-grid supply to remote consumers in place of replacing or maintaining the network assets through which those consumers were previously supplied.
The Commission concluded that it was not appropriate to make a rule change at this time but elaborated a package of suggested changes to support efficient moves to off-grid supply.
AGL made a submission in response to the Commission's draft determination, which is available here.
