AGL responded to the AEMC’s option paper on Integrating Energy Storage Systems in the NEM. The options paper was broad but included a discussion on the participation framework for storage proponents in the NEM. It also included discussions on recovery of non-energy costs, how generation and load from storage and hybrid facility participants be scheduled and dispatched into the NEM, and where should performance standards be set, simplifying the ancillary services provisions in the NER to better align with a two-sided market, Network Service Provider connection points and clarifying how DC coupled systems are to register and participate in the NEM.
