AGL Energy (AGL) welcomes the opportunity to comment on DISER’s National Battery Strategy Issues Paper.

Capturing more value in the battery supply chain

We are very supportive of the government investigating how Australia can capture more value from the battery supply chain – beyond minerals extraction. Although AGL is not involved in the battery manufacturing sector, we have provided commentary on aspects of the battery supply chain that affect our business. This includes suggestions for how the government might tackle battery supply chain constraints, the possibility of introducing onshore processing to circumvent modern slavery issues in the battery supply chain and e-stewardship – the potential for onshore mineral processing to open up onshore battery recycling opportunities.
