AGL considers the AEMC's proposal to shorten the NEM's settlement cycle requires further analysis to understand the impact on consumers and market participants, including the potential for consumer savings and increased competition. AGL emphasises the importance of maintaining a strong prudential regime, the need for clarity on settlement processes, consideration of the impact of the proposed changes on all market participants and smart meter data reliability. While AGL is a strong advocate for improvements to the energy system and competition, we consider further information is required to allow stakeholders to fully engage with the proposal.
