Air monitoring

AGL Upstream Investments Pty Limited holds Environmental Protection Licence No 12003 for its Rosalind Park Gas Plant. Under section 66(6) of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (NSW), a holder of an environment protection licence with a condition requiring monitoring of an activity authorised in the licence must make any of the monitoring data that relates to pollution and the licensee’s name, publicly and prominently available on the licensee's website.

It is a legislative requirement that all sites with an Environment Protection Licence issued by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority prepare and implement a Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP).

AGL is required under EPL No 12003 to monitor air emissions at specified points on the licensed premises on a quarterly and continuous basis.

The information in the following links provides monitoring data which AGL is required to publish. The information has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for publishing pollution monitoring data (EPA, October 2013).

Water monitoring

AGL is required under EPL No 12003 to monitor water quality at specified points on the licensed premises. These monitoring locations include the Rosalind Park Gas Plant Flare Pit, which is monitored monthly, and a selection of the operating gas wells that are monitored quarterly.

The information in the following link provides monitoring data which AGL is required to publish. The information has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for publishing pollution monitoring data (EPA, October 2013).

Noise monitoring

AGL is required to comply with noise limits under EPL No 12003 Condition L5.1. The noise monitoring locations are the closest two receivers to the Rosalind Park Gas Plant. The information in the following link provides the Annual Noise Compliance Monitoring Reports which AGL is required to publish. The information has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for publishing pollution monitoring data (EPA, October 2013).

Flaring events at the Rosalind Park Gas Plant are very rare and of short duration. Noise monitoring has previously demonstrated compliance with EPL No 12003 Condition L5.4 and AGL does not regularly monitor noise during flare events.

Newcastle Gas Storage Facility

AGL holds Environment Protection Licence 20130 for the Newcastle Gas Storage Facility. AGL is required under EPL 20130 to monitor air emissions at specified points on the licensed premises and monitor noise at specified points surrounding the licensed premises. The information in the following link provides monitoring data which AGL is required to publish. The information has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for publishing pollution monitoring data (EPA, October 2013).

It is a legislative requirement that all sites with an Environment Protection Licence issued by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority prepare and implement a Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP).

Gloucester Gas Project

AGL is required under EPL 20358 to monitor water and soil quality and water levels, at specified points on the licensed premises, at various frequencies. These monitoring locations include AGL’s surface water monitoring sites (stream locations and dams), groundwater monitoring bores, gas wells, private water bores, and soil monitoring locations. The monitoring network is associated with AGL’s Gloucester Gas Project and specifically includes exploration activities associated with the Waukivory Pilot and Tiedman Irrigation Projects. The water and soil are sampled by third parties and analysed by NATA registered laboratories.

It is a legislative requirement that all sites with an Environment Protection Licence issued by the NSW Environmental Protection Authority prepare and implement a Pollution Incident Response Management Plan (PIRMP).

The information in the following links provides monitoring data which AGL is required to publish. The information has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for publishing pollution monitoring data  (EPA, October 2013).

Gas day harmonisation

Gas day harmonisation will take effect across participating gas markets from 1 October 2019. As required by the National Gas Rules, we have developed a gas day harmonisation transition plan outlining how AGL gas facilities plan to transition to the unified gas day. If we make any changes to this transition plan ahead of 1 October, we will amend the plan published here and notify Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO).

 Spring Gully Joint Venture

AGL Energy Limited is required under section 34 of the Gas Code of Conduct to publish the following information, which relates to gas produced by the Australia Pacific LNG operated Spring Gully Joint Venture in Queensland (in which AGL has a minority interest (<1%):
